About Us

Each depositor is insured to at least $250,000.

First Trust and Savings is participating in the FDIC’s Transaction Account Guarantee Program.  Under that program, through December 31, 2012, all noninterest-bearing  transaction accounts and Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTA) are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account.   Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC’s general deposit insurance rules.

The term "noninterest-bearing transaction account" includes a traditional checking account or demand deposit account on which the insured depository institution pays no interest.  It also includes IOLTAs.  It does not include other accounts, such as traditional checking or demand deposit accounts that may earn interest, NOW accounts, and money-market deposit accounts (Big Check).

For more information about temporary FDIC insurance coverage of transaction accounts, visit:  www.fdic.gov

The FDIC's Electronic Deposit Insurance Estimator (EDIE) can also assist a depositor in determining, on a per-bank basis, how the insurance rules and limits apply to a depositor's specific group of deposit accounts - what's insured and what portion (if any) exceeds coverage limits at that bank.  To use EDIE, visit:  https://www.fdic.gov/edie/index.html
